Abstact from Johannes’ Nilo text, a chronicle of his strange contact with Greek reality, which he met through art, during an awkward visit in Greece.

"[...] The street in front of the gallery is crowded. We hear about a concert in a record shop just a few blocks away and decide to go there. It is 11 pm and still very hot. I am thirsty and walk down the street looking for somewhere to by water. Suddenly I hear shootings and almost get overrun buy riot police in clash with whom? I decide to walk back to the concert which continuous undisturbed in peace. The ambiguous title «Dayz of Glory» is well-chosen. The verb «daze» means to numb, to distract and confuse, to paralyse, and to glare or to blind. The twist in the spelling of «days» undermines the romantic and the prospective nature of «Glory». As Walter Benjamin says in his Arcades Project: «Every epoch not only dreams the next, but while dreaming impels it towards wakefulness. It bears its end within itself, and reveals it—as Hegel already recognized—by a ruse. With the upheaval of the market economy, we begin to recognize the monuments of the bourgeoisie as ruins even before they have crumbled.»
